(HealthDay News) — Psoriasis is a chronic condition that causes red, scaly patches of skin. It can’t be cured, but treatments are available to help manage symptoms.
The American Academy of Dermatology offers this list of common treatment methods:
- Corticosteroid creams applied to the skin to help reduce inflammation.
- Medications containing anthralin, calcipotriene, retinoids, or coal tar.
- Ultraviolet light therapy to help stem the rapid growth of skin cells.
- Biologic medications.
