(HealthDay News) — The adenoids are lymphatic tissue, resembling the tonsils, found in the airway between the nose and back of the throat.
The adenoids have a tendency to swell, especially in younger children. The ADAM Medical Encyclopedia says common symptoms of enlarged adenoids include:
- Dry mouth.
- Cracked lips.
- Bad breath.
- Daytime breathing with the mouth open.
- Breathing through the mouth, especially at night.
- Restlessness while trying to sleep.
- Chronic nasal stuffiness or runny nose.
