Health Tip: If You Have a Bleeding Disorder

(HealthDay News) — A bleeding disorder inhibits the blood’s ability to clot. Although this type of disorder can’t be cured, it can be treated with medication.

The Womenshealth.gov Web site says women with an untreated bleeding disorder may have dangerous bleeding during the menstrual period. Other times of risk include:

  • Delivering a child.
  • Having a miscarriage.
  • Having an abortion.
  • Getting dental work.
  • Having surgery.
  • Suffering an injury.
