By on February 8, 2011

To stay safe and alert behind the wheel, it’s important to avoid distractions while you drive.

The U.S. Department of Transportation cites these examples:

  • Being on your cell phone.
  • Sipping on a drink or eating.
  • Fixing your hair or touching up your makeup.
  • Constantly talking to other people in the car.
  • Reading (even maps), watching a movie or using the car’s navigation system.
  • Fiddling with the CD or MP3 player, or trying to tune in a radio station.
