(HealthDay News) — Parenting is a tough job. And to be successful at it, you may need to take a little breather from time to time.
The American Academy of Pediatrics offers these suggestions for new parents:
- Understand that it’s normal to feel frustrated, and sometimes angry, with your child or children.
- When you feel frustrated, put baby in a safe place, such as the crib, and take a few quiet moments to relax.
- Calm yourself with some relaxing music, a cup of coffee, reading, meditating or making a quick phone call to a friend.
- Ask others to help you watch baby from time to time, especially if you stay at home full-time with your little one.
