(HealthDay News) — Most people know the importance of counting calories, but there are other eating factors to note.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention explains:
- Low-fat and fat-free foods are not necessarily low in calories, since they may contain sugar.
- Don’t focus just on carbohydrates. Doing so may lead to you consume too many calories and miss out on important dietary nutrients.
- Even if you’re exercising enough, it’s still important to watch your calorie intake. Make sure you aren’t consuming more calories than you burn.
- Genetics and environment also may play a role in your weight.
