(HealthDay News) — Eating well doesn’t have to mean dieting or going hungry.
The American Heart Association advises:
- Follow a simple, nutritious eating plan. Avoid fad diets.
- Instead of quitting your favorite treats cold turkey, shrink portion sizes.
- Bulk up on foods high in fiber, such as whole grains, fruit, vegetables and legumes. These will help you feel fuller and more satisfied.
- Don’t buy high-sugar beverages or other foods with empty calories. Keeping them out of your home will help you avoid temptation.
