(HealthDay News) — Too much computer time may take away from physical activity. It can also lead to an “overuse” or “repetitive stress” injury.
The Nemours Foundation offers these suggestions to help prevent this problem among children:
- Remind your child not to tense the shoulders while at the computer and to maintain a relaxed posture.
- Have children keep their legs in a comfortable position with feet on the floor and hips perpendicular to the spine.
- Don’t let your child bang on the keyboard, and remind the child to keep wrists at a 90-degree angle to the spine.
- Encourage your child to take frequent breaks to get up and stretch.
