(HealthDay News) — Diverticular disease, which includes diverticulosis and diverticulitis, occurs when inflamed pouches form from bulging weak spots in the intestines.
The National Digestive Diseases Information Clearinghouse says common symptoms of diverticular disease include:
- Bloating and/or pain in the lower abdomen, particularly tenderness on the lower left side. Pain may gradually increase, or come and go.
- Constipation.
- Fever, chills, nausea, vomiting or changes in bowel habits.
