(HealthDay News) — Plantar fasciitis occurs when the band of tissue that spans the length of your foot becomes inflamed. This causes foot pain, notably in the heel.
The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons says typical symptoms of plantar fasciitis include:
- Pain that is worse when getting out of bed in the morning, or when starting to walk after sitting for a long time.
- Pain that subsides after walking for a few minutes.
- Pain that increases after — not during — exercise.
