(HealthDay News) — Wearing a helmet while biking can offer significant protection against head injury, but the helmet must fit properly.
The Cleveland Clinic offers these suggestions:
- The helmet’s padding should offer a more snug fit.
- Make sure the helmet doesn’t move in any direction. It should sit level, not tilted.
- Look for a helmet labeled with a Consumer Product Safety Commission sticker, which confirms it has met certain safety standards.
- If wearing a used helmet, make sure it has no cracks or breaks and was made after 1999.
