(HealthDay News) — About 75 percent of melanomas emerge as new spots that appear in normal skin, says DermNet New Zealand. Because melanoma can quickly become life-threatening, it’s important to know early signs of the disease.
DermNet mentions these symptoms to watch for:
- Changes in the color, shape or size of a spot.
- A spot that is itchy, painful or tender.
- A spot that stands out from other spots.
DermNet stresses the importance of checking for other types of skin cancers, too. Take note of rough, dry, scaly or raised areas.
And visit your doctor without delay if you suspect you may have skin cancer.
