(HealthDay News) — If you’re struggling with arthritis, cold therapy can help ease swelling and pain.
Here’s how to apply cold therapy, courtesy of the Arthritis Foundation:
- Use an ice pack, a plastic bag filled with ice or even a bag of frozen veggies. Wrap the pack in a towel and apply it to the area for a maximum of 20 minutes at a time.
- Buy a commercial ice pack, which can wrap around a joint and is less likely to leak.
- Submerge a painful joint in a bath of ice and cold water.
