(HealthDay News) — The muscles supporting the hip may become strained from overuse or an injury. You’re more likely than the average person to develop a strained hip if you’ve already had a similar injury, if you don’t warm up before exercise, or if you overdo it and injure your hip.
The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons says warning signs of a hip strain may include:
- Pain in the hip area, which is the most common symptom.
- Pain during use of the hip muscles.
- Swelling, a symptom of a more severe strain.
- Weakness in the hip muscle.
