Health Tip: Don't Drive After Drinking

By on September 1, 2010

Drinking and driving is not only against the law, but it’s a major threat to your health — and that of others on the road.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests how to avoid driving while impaired:

  • Before you take your first drink, assign someone to be the designated driver who doesn’t drink alcohol at all.
  • Don’t allow friends to get behind the wheel after they’ve been drinking; take away their keys, if necessary.
  • If you’ve been drinking, call a cab or find someone to come and pick you up.
  • When you’re hosting a party and are serving alcohol, ensure that guests have a designated driver who doesn’t drink.
