(HealthDay News) — Holiday celebrations can become loud and boisterous, putting little ears at risk from loud music, parties or toys.
The American Academy of Pediatrics advises parents to:
- Teach children to protect their hearing, by turning down the volume and taking breaks from headphone use.
- Look for products such as noise cancelling headphones or well-fitting ear buds that can help protect hearing.
- Avoid toys that are excessively noisy. Test these products before you buy them.
- If at a party or concert, stay away from the speakers and other sources of loud noise.
