Health Tip: Dealing With Feelings of Loneliness

(HealthDay News) — People who are lonely struggle with feelings of isolation and emptiness.

If these feelings apply to you or someone you love, the University of Florida Counseling and Wellness Center advises:

  • Acknowledge and accept that you feel lonely. Write, draw or play music to express your feelings.
  • Take an active role in reaching out to those around you, whether it’s friends, family or work colleagues. If you’re struggling with a loss, talk about your grief.
  • Get involved in a group activity to associate with others who have similar interests.
