Exercise and Teen Depression

Young teens who are physically fit seem to face a lower risk for future depression new research suggests.

The finding was presented at a meeting of the American Psychological Association and is based on an analysis that involved more than 400 6th and 7th graders enrolled at 6 middle schools. All the students completed a depression and fitness survey and a fitness test based on short speed-based runs. More than 1/4 of the girls displayed symptoms of depression
